The Paleogene Period was when the continents began to drift farther aparts widening oceans and going into there modern positions. Also, sea levels continued to drop during the Paleogene period.

During this time period NYS was very close to its modern positon.

NYS Environment

During the Paleogene Period NYS had a moderate environment similar to what we have today in NYS but slightly warmer.
